One of those rains

The city,
numb & fatigued,
weeks of torment
from ruthless heat

Cried silently ~ ‘paint me green’
& the sky
so vehemently endowed

Us, poets,
sentenced to
captivity of windows

When there’s a reason
to fly back
in time, it just happens

A time when we used
to write letters,
gift wrapped
love in words

One of those days
when I took
my joy
to rain

One of those days
to reminisce
hopelessly loved
Awash, with intimate rains

Dear poet
it’s cold outside
Melbourne’s raining

Dear Poet
the colours are
blending, flourishing

Dear Poet
subtle greens of suburbs
becoming verdant

Dear Poet
sadness will eat you
if you don’t let them out
